Our coaching approach

At Savoir we believe that everyone is unique and so we tailor our approach to every client to create a bespoke coaching experience to meet your individual needs.

The basic premise of a coaching session is very simple, a Savoir coach will use open and enquiring questions, they will listen actively, and clarify to check their understanding as the client talks in order to ensure complete alignment between coach and client.

At Savoir, we believe in a person-centre approach (developed and propagated by Carl Rogers), which builds rapport, and develops a non-judgemental relationship based on trust and mutual respect. Our strengths-based approach uses reflective practice and questions is designed to stimulate clients’ thinking, challenge fixed mindsets, and perceived barriers to progress.

Some clients fear the idea of having to talk about themselves for an extended period in a coaching session. At Savoir, coaching sessions are structured and we will ask you invitational and thought-provoking questions so you won’t be expected to talk non-stop for 60 minutes!

Here is a flavour of what we might ask you:

1. What goal would you like to be the focus of conversation today?

2. What actions have you tried so far to meet this goal?

3. If you couldn’t fail, what would do?

We recognise that when working towards a goal or acquiring new skills and behaviours, many of us start in the ‘unconscious incompetence’ stage. We don’t know what we need to know, and we don’t know how to get there. At Savoir, we can help you become more self-aware of your blind spots and areas for development, and support you to devise a plan to increase your competence and confidence to ultimately achieve your goals.

Why choose Savoir?

At Savoir, we help to unlock your potential and put the pieces in place to help you grow and develop.

We are flexible to ensure we meet your coaching needs – we can offer in-person or virtual coaching sessions across all time zones, 6 days a week.

All Savoir coaches are qualified to Level 7 Executive Coaching standard and adhere to the EMCC ethical code.

Savoir coaches have worked across a range of industries and bring their experience of corporate business, the public sector and the 3rd sector into the coaching space.

What might our sessions look like?

What can you expect in a Savoir coaching session?

If you are embarking on a coaching journey with Savoir you can look forward to a series of sessions, which could look like this:

Session One

We start to get to know you using diagnostic tools such as DISC, the Wheel of Strengths, Learning Styles, Conflict questionnaires and more.

Session Two

We begin to explore your goals for coaching and prioritise which one to pursue first. In this session we will start to tackle your first coaching goal.

Session Three

We review your progress towards your first goal, and either move forward to deepen this goal or establish a different direction. We will also spend some time here reflecting on your progress so far.

Session Four

We may be ready to move onto a second coaching goal. Or it might be that a new goal has emerged from our work so far which alters the direction of travel for you.

Session Five

Here we will get stuck into the work of your goal – what’s working? What have you tried already? What’s holding you back?

Session Six

We will review your overall progress, reflect on the coaching process, and design next steps which may include further sessions, or getting ready to fly solo.

In between your sessions, you may decide to engage in intercessional work which could include reflective practice, implementing a particular action, writing in a journal or simply noticing a challenging behaviour or interaction. This work is designed by you, the client, and supported by your coach.

We can help

Executive Coaching

Executive coaching offers individuals and organisations the opportunity to develop leadership skills and behaviours to bolster, improve and flex performance at the senior level.

We offer a confidential space for leaders to think, discuss, and plan for themselves, their teams, their organisations and their futures.

We can help leaders identify and develop their leadership style, ensure alignment with their company’s values and strategic vision, and implement plans to show up as the leader they really are.

Using a range of tools, we can help leaders to step out of autopilot mode, find alternative perspectives, and expand their horizons.

Whether you lead a large team or you fly solo as a subject-matter expert, we can help you develop self-leadership skills and behaviour to enhance your effectiveness. However, you lead, Savoir can support your journey.

Wellness Coaching

At Savoir we encourage all clients to consider their wellbeing in whatever role they have. Wellbeing is akin to the efficient engine which enables the high-performance car to reach its maximum speeds without damaging its infrastructure. And then being able to repeat this time and time again.

At Savoir we can help you to role-model healthy wellbeing as a busy leader for your teams by demonstrating that you are human, showing vulnerability and knowing when you need to top up your wellbeing reserves. We believe that you need to put your own oxygen mask on first, so that you can help others to put theirs on.

We are committed to excellence, ethics and equality.
